BOS

  • DOUBTFUL
Jaylen Brown (G)- It appears that Brown will be hitting the sidelines Monday evening, but the good news is that after Monday's game, the Celtics won't play again until Thursday, so Brown will have plenty of time to rest his back. Sam Hauser (hamstring) is questionable for Monday, and if he's forced to join Brown on the inactive list, Hugo Gonzalez could get the start, while Payton Pritchard and Derrick White will do the heavy lifting on offense.
  • OUT
Jayson Tatum (F)- Charania adds that the Celtics are "cautiously optimistic" about Tatum returning later in the season. Tatum himself is on record saying he isn't ruling out a return, and by all accounts, his rehab is going swimmingly. "Clearly Jayson Tatum has a goal in his mind that he wants to play," Charania said. "Whether he can get there by the time we're in February, March or April, we'll see." How Boston performs this season is likely to factor into Tatum's decision as well, making this is an intriguing storyline to watch.
  • QUESTIONABLE
Sam Hauser (F)- Hauser missed Saturday's loss to the Spurs due to right hamstring tightness, which was his first time on the inactive list this season. If he's unable to shake off his questionable tag Monday, Jordan Walsh and Hugo Gonzalez are candidates for increased roles. Over five appearances (four starts) this month, Hauser has averaged 11.4 points, 3.4 three-pointers and 3.2 rebounds in 26.6 minutes per contest.
  • OUT
Josh Minott (F)- This will be the fourth straight game on the inactive list for Minott. His next chance to play will come Thursday in Miami.

IND

  • OUT
Isaiah Jackson (F)- Jackson hasn't played since Dec. 22 but appears to be nearing a return to action. Still, he isn't expected to return until next Saturday's game against Detroit at the very earliest. In the meantime, Micah Potter and Tony Bradley will likely continue to split the backup center duties behind Jay Huff.
  • OUT
Tyrese Haliburton (G)- Haliburton tore his right Achilles in Game 7 of the NBA Finals on June 22 and underwent surgery the following day. Any hope of a return during the 2025-26 campaign was shut down Monday, when Pacers president Kevin Pritchard stated plainly, "He will not play next year though. We would not jeopardize that now. So don't get any hopes up that he will play." Haliburton has cemented himself as the face of the franchise and played a key role in Indiana's run to the NBA Finals during the 2024-25 playoffs, averaging 17.3 points, 8.6 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 33.5 minutes across 23 postseason games. During the 2024-25 regular season, the 2020 first-round pick averaged 18.6 points, 9.2 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals over 73 appearances.
  • OUT
Obi Toppin (F)- Toppin will likely miss a considerable amount of time following this surgery. Head coach Rick Carlisle told the media not to ask about Toppin's status until Feb. 1. The team will likely turn to Jay Huff, Jarace Walker and Tony Bradley to help shoulder the load in the frontcourt.
  • QUESTIONABLE
Andrew Nembhard (G-F)- Nembhard is still dealing with lower-back soreness, though he was able to shed his questionable tag and play in Saturday's win over Miami. If the fourth-year point guard is ultimately ruled out, T.J. McConnell, Quenton Jackson and Ben Sheppard are candidates to see an uptick in minutes. Over four outings this month, Nembhard has averaged 20.8 points, 9.3 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 32.5 minutes per game.
  • OUT
Bennedict Mathurin (G-F)- Mathurin is set to miss a fifth consecutive game while recovering from a sprained right thumb. His next chance to play is Wednesday against the Raptors, but the fourth-year forward lacks a clear timeline for a return. Johnny Furphy should continue to start for the Pacers in Mathurin's absence.
